THE WILDEST MOST BEAUTIFUL UGLY, JULY 2023

This exhibition was curated by DMT from submissions to our open call.

The Wildest Most Beautiful Ugly is an exhibition of photographs that brings the unseen, taboo and hidden aspects of mental health and neurodiversity into conversation with one another. We invited photographers to make tangible the vulnerable, personal and generally overlooked narratives of those living in a state of otherness - show us your honest, ugliest beautifuls. Show us the rage of misrepresentation and mistreatment, the numbness of a day caught between memories, the fear that tinges the excitement of mania, the quiet despairs lingering beneath glimpses of comfort, and the brilliant joys and humor of the life that catches its breath when stigma looks away.

DMT is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, born in Pretoria, South Africa (1998). A poet and visual artist, DMT specialises in documentary and portrait photography, often drawing from literary, sociological and metaphysical influences.

DMT is a member of Through the Lens Collective and was a participant of PhMuseum's CRITICAE Masterclass 2022.They have been selected for exhibitions and festivals (F-Stop Magazine, Float Photo Magazine, Praxis Gallery), and been published in print and online (Unvael, Pearl Press, among others). - https://dmterblanche.com/
